As I mentioned in my first post, I came to blogging via "All Aussie Guys", a site which (sadly) has not been updated since 2006. Every now and then I see a photo which would be perfect for that site and when I do I will endeavour to add it to my blog.
Here, Carlton captain Marc Murphy brings down Fremantle superstar Nat Fyfe:
Here's a much better photo of Murphy:
and a cheekier pic of Fyfe:
I don't own these images

A blog? Why? (My First Post)
So, I had been thinking for some time about joining the blogging community, treading that path a few million or so had been down ahead of me, but I really had no idea how to go about it and no time to find out.
There was another issue- what the hell would the content be? Why did I want a blog anyway?
Sometimes I thought it would be a wonderful confessional, a place to "let it all out", which is supposed to be good for the soul. Cathartic even. There were occasions when I was in a creative mood and I regretted not having a blog to share a story. At other times (sadly, way too many of them) I was annoyed or perplexed about something I had seen or heard and wanted to express those feelings and frustrations.
It was clear to me that if I did have a blog I would run the danger of wanting to be all things to all people, with no clear direction whatsoever. That put me off the idea. Still, those feelings of wanting, no needing a blog would rise from time to time, whenever a past sin, new story or ongoing annoyance would come to mind.
Then this morning I was checking out "All Aussie Guys" http://allaussieguys.blogspot.com.au/, a blog book-marked on my browser for years featuring photos of footballers, surfers and other male athletes in little or no clothing, which I visit from time to time (a confession already!) and which sadly has not been updated since 2006. My eyes drifted to the top right and I saw the words "start a blog" which I had not noticed before (no surprise, considering the images on display). I clicked and here I am. So that part of starting a blog was surprisingly easy. We shall see how simple it is to keep the new contact coming.
What did I decide that content will be?
Confession?
Ranting? Raving? Reminiscing?
True tales? Tall tales?
Actually, all of the above. This will be a place I hope to visit often, to share my thoughts, memories and experiences, which I hope you will find interesting, informative and even relatable.
That's why I decided to call my blog "Random Ramblings". You never know what you'll find!
I may even share the odd film review or photo.
A quick rant- I deliberately began this first post with a word that has become an annoyance in my life (this will give you an indication of the pedant I can be).
I have noticed, creeping into our language at an alarming rate, the use of the word "so" to begin a reply.
Q: "How did you become a blogger?"
A: "So ... I had been thinking for some time about joining the blogging community..."
No! That word does not belong there. Check any dictionary and although you will see many uses for the word "so", a replacement for "ummmmm" is not one of them!
Oh yeah! It feels great getting that off my chest. I think I'm going to enjoy blogging!
